How to Get to Prestige 1 in Black Ops 3

How to Earn Black Ops 3 Prestige

To Prestige in Black Ops 3 you need to reach level 55 and then you will be able to choose to prestige, which resets some things, and leaves others alone. After you reach Level 55 Commander you need to do the following.

You do not automatically prestige when you hit level 55. So if you are about to level up you can keep playing, and then you can do this later.

Open the Menu in the game and then use the bumpers to select the Barracks. On this screen you will see a small Prestige tile in the lower right corner that shows lets you choose Black Ops 3 Prestige options.

On the next screen select the Prestige option at the top of the screen and then Enter Prestige 1. The video below walks through this process in detail.

After you select this you need to decide how you will spend your Permanent Unlock. This lets you keep a Specialist ability, Weapon, Wildcard or Perk to use from the start without progressing to a higher level to unlock it.

You will only have access to this item and the starting items after you prestige, so you should make sure to make a smart choice.

On this screen you can also choose a fresh start, to play over like you never played a match online or refund, to get your Unlock tokens back. If you are ready, select Permanent Unlock and choose what you want to unlock for good.

What Resets With Black Ops 3 Prestige

When you choose to use the Black Ops 3 Prestige you will start back at level one. This means you lose access to some specialists, weapons, perks, streaks, grenades and more. You also lose any un-used unlock tokens.

The only way to unlock everything in the game is to prestige over and over so that you can permanently unlock items and use the limited unlock tokens to unlock other items.

What You Keep After Prestiging

When you finally hit level 55 and are ready to prestige in Black Ops 3, one of the biggest questions is, "What do you get to keep?" Here's a short list of what you can keep — in addition to whatever you use your permanent unlock token on.

This is what you keep when you prestige in Black Ops 3.

Cryptokeys – You do not lose any cryptokeys when you Prestige.
Weapon Attachments – Your weapon level and attachments don't reset, but you need to level up to unlock weapons.
Camos – You keep all the Black Ops 3 camos you already unlocked.
Challenges – You will keep the progress on your challenges, including weapon challenges.
Specialist Customization – You get to keep the specialist unlocks that customize the experience and any Specialist taunts you've earned.

When you Prestige you also get a calling card and there are emblems for each level, up to level 11, Master Prestige.

Black Ops 3 Prestige 2

After you complete your first Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 prestige you unlock new challenges to help you level up faster. This will eventually lead you to Prestige 2 and higher.

When you hit Black Ops 3 Prestige 2, you will see a similar experience. You get a Permanent Unlock, Refund options and Fresh Start. If you choose to enter Prestige 2, you will get an Extra Create a Class Slot and access to Prestige awards including a Calling Card. in exchange you are set back to level 1 for unlocking weapons and power ups. You keep all progress towards Weapon level, Challenges and customizations.

Black Ops 3 Master Prestige

After you hit Master Prestige, you can keep leveling up to level 1,000. We've run into players with a level 100+ and it is only a matter of time before that goes higher as skilled players and players with a lot of time grind through the new levels.

With Black Ops 3 updates you can now Prestige above level 100, all the way up to 1,000.

When you unlock levels above Master Prestige you will also get emblems from older Call of Duty games including World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops 2.

There you have it. You will need to unlock some items again, but overall you can continue on your progression towards many challenges in Black Ops 3.

Black Ops 3 Weapons Prestige

In addition to the Black Ops 3 prestige of your player level, you can also complete Black Ops 3 weapons prestige.

This is similar to the main Prestige in that you reset the level on your weapon. To complete a Black Ops 3 Weapons Prestige you need to get the weapon to the Max level and unlock all attachments.

If you Prestige weapons in Black Ops 3 you can unlock a Clan tag on your weapon and if you Prestige the weapon a second time and add a kill counter to the weapon.

How to enter Weapons Prestige in Black Ops 3.

When you Prestige, the weapon attachments are reset and so is the level. You can earn XP as you level the weapon back up and re-earn your attachments. To start the Black Ops 3 weapons Prestige follow these directions;

Open Create a Class
Choose your weapon
In the bottom right corner you will see an option to Prestige Weapon.
Push the Y button on Xbox One and the Triangle button on PS4.
On the next screen choose toe Enter Weapon Prestige.

From here you can restart the process of leveling up the weapon from scratch. You will earn more XP for your main Black Ops 3 level as you do this.

There is a glitch that can keep your current attachments, but this is something we expect that Treyarch will fix in a coming update.

Black Ops 3 Prestige Glitches

There is a Black Ops 3 Prestige glitch that allows some people to essentially cheat their way to Black Ops 3 Master Prestige and to the higher levels. Treyarch patched at least one version of this, but there may be another method out there that Treyarch is looking at.

If you choose to use any of these options you do run the risk of a ban from Black Ops 3, so use those at your own risk.
